Emmesmail Help -- The first window

The first window you are presented with is labeled "EmmesMail Login".

This window not only allows a given user to login by selecting a user "handle" and clicking "OK", it has a number of other functions. The advantage of requiring users to have a handle and to login is that it makes certain you see your mail and not someone elses, and you have access to your addressbook, etc. If it is necessary to add a new user, delete or modify a user's details, click the "edit/add" button.

Clicking the "Help" button provides you with access to the help files, Emmes Technologies' homepage, and information about the version of the software.

Clicking "Exit", closes the window and the program.

Clicking "OK" brings up the next window and shows the subjects of any messages that have been delivered.

Another important use of the login window is to initiate mail checking. This may be "one-time" or "on-schedule". For "one-time", just click the "Check Now" button. The window will disappear and reappear only if you (or another user) has mail. For "on-schedule" checking, click the Auto-checking "on" radiobutton and select when you want mail checking to start by choosing an hour and minute for "Starting At:"

The "View:" selection box, in the middle of the login window, is by default set to "mail" so that the user's incoming mail is viewed. The user also may elect to view his stored mail archive (by selecting "IN Archive"), his sent mail archive (by selecting "Sent Archive"), or any file (by selecting "Browse").

Clicking "Log" at the bottom of the login window shows a log of recent mail-checking activity.
