Inserting files, links, and graphics images in emails

Inserting a file

Attaching a file and inserting a file are two different things. Any file may be sent as an attachment. Inserting a file, means that the contents of that file appear within the body of the email. This is useful if you wish to paste parts of, or a whole file, into the email you are composing. Simply click "insert" and select "file" from the "Send Action Menu".

Inserting a link

If you type "Check out www.mywebsite.com/mydog.jpg", many browsers, including Emmesmail, will recognize that www.mywebsite.com/mydog.jpg is likely a link and will display

Check out www.mywebsite.com/mydog.jpg,

so that the recipient can click on the link and see the picture.

However, Emmesmail lets you design even more elegant emails such as:

Check out this picture or my dog,

where "picture of my dog" is a link to the picture. To insert such a link, simply click "insert" and select "link" from the "Send Action Menu". Finally enter the words of the link and the URL in the two fields of the "Describe the link" popup that appears.

Inserting a graphics image

Emmesmail allows you to insert a GIF or JPEG image directly into your emails, in addition to allowing you to send them as attachments. If your company logo or signature are captured in a GIF or JPEG file on your computer, they may be sent and will appear as part of the main body of the email. Emmesmail also allows you to properly read this kind of sophisticated email when sent by others.

Note: At present, the only kinds of graphics images that may be included within the email are jpegs and gifs. Excitingly, animated gifs also may be included! There is no simple mechanism for sophisticated positioning of the images within the page, although, vertical positioning is quite easy. If sophisticated positioning is required, this can be accomplished by creating an HTML file with the correct positioning and then using the "insert file" option described above.
