Although Emmesmail seems to function as a single program, it is actually a suite, composed of four main programs, msv, msm, msp, and msd, and several helper programs. Each of the programs may be run independently from a command line, if desired.
Emmesmail will check for email on multiple POP3 servers.
The program, msp, follows the POP3 protocol to retrieve mail from your ISP's server and deliver it to <udir>/mail/system on your PC, where <udir> is the user directory in which emmesmail is installed. msd then delivers it to the intended user.
The msm program uses the sendmail protocol to mail a buffer using your ISP's (Internet Service Provider's) mail handler.
msv is an easy-to-use multi-featured GUI mail-reading and mail-sending program. It also provides a graphical interface for configuring the software.
The setup program installs the necessary programs and files. Sample configuration files, msp.ini, msm.ini, users, and mailboxes are installed in the <udir>/mail directory. They are easily edited for proper configuration. If they are not edited, the programs themselves, will prompt for the correct information. Instructions for configuring the files by hand are provided.
